本日は日中ほんの一瞬だけ梅田に行く用事があったので，ほんの一瞬だけ紀伊国屋に行って洋書コーナーを漁る。紀伊国屋に来たのは何ヶ月ぶりかのぅ〜。久々に文明を見た，ってカンジ(笑)。で，買ったのはこれ。「Oxford Collocations Dictionary」デス。

「collocation」とは，「相性」とか「つながり」とか言う意味です。そのままズバリ，つながりのある英語表現がオンパレードの辞書。以前，みはみはさんのところで紹介されてたヤツ。退院して以来ずっと買いたかったのだ〜。もちろん，領収書払い(笑)。この「コロケーション」，なかなかスグレモノです。特に形容詞と副詞の使い方が便利〜。例えばこんな感じ。

appropriate adj.
  • VERBS be, seem | consider sth, deem sth, think sth It was thought appropriate to award her the prize.
  • ADV. extremely, very | entirely, quite
  • PREP. to Tutors can construct tests appropriate to individual students needs.
significant adj.
  • VERVS be, prove | become | remain | consider sth (as), deem sth, regard sth as, see sth as, think sth, view sth as The move was regarded as significant in Japan.
  • ADV. deeply, extremely, highly, particularly, very | fairly, auite | statistically These differences are not statistically significant.
  • PREP. for This development proved highly singificant for the whole town. to rtuals which are deeply significant to Christians.
